Poker Staking

Are you a talented poker player looking for a chance to showcase your skills on a larger stage but lacking the resources? Or do you want to make some extra cash without playing poker yourself?

Poker staking may be just what you’re looking for in both cases!

What is Poker Staking?

Poker Staking is a feature that allows you to purchase a portion of another player’s buy-in at a Multi-Table Tournament (MTT) or sell a piece of your own. As a result, Staker can participate in tournaments without even having to play a single hand of poker. And for sellers, Poker Staking reduces the cost and variance associated with playing in tournaments while increasing their profits by marking up the cost of stakes.

How to Stake a Player

If you’re interested in staking another player in a poker tournament, here’s a step-by-step guide to help you out:

  1. Open the poker client and click the Staking button in the main lobby.
  2. In the Staking lobby, you’ll see a list of tournaments available for staking on the top left. Select the one you’re interested in.
  3. On the right side of the screen, you’ll see a list of players offering to be staked for that tournament. You can see the percentage they’re selling (up to 90%) and how much is still available. You can also mark players as favorites and take notes on them.
  4. To stake a player, enter the percentage you want to buy on the bottom right of the screen. The system will calculate how much it will cost you, and you can click the “buy” button to complete the purchase. Keep in mind that staking percentages are approved in 1% increments every 5 minutes, so other players have a chance to jump in.
  5. Once you make an offer, it’s final. If your purchase isn’t completed before the offer is filled, you’ll get a refund for the unpurchased amount. And if the player you staked unregisters for the tournament, you’ll get a full refund.
  6. There’s also a “Spin to Stake” feature that allows you to spin a wheel for a chance to win a staking percentage.

How to Get Staked

If you’re looking to get staked for a tournament at ACR Poker, here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. First, locate the tournament you want to participate in and click the “sell action” button on the screen’s bottom right-hand side.
  2. You’ll be directed to a new screen where you can input the percentage of your buy-in that you want to sell for this tournament and the number of entries you plan to make. You also have the option to markup the stake cost if you believe demand is high and you want to increase your profits.

General Terms and Conditions

  1. Staking allows users to purchase a share of another player’s action in Multi-Table Tournaments.
  2. WPN does not charge an additional fee for staked buy-ins.
  3. The maximum staking amount is 90%.
  4. If an event is canceled after a player is in the money, the Staker will receive their share of the ICM chip count payout based on the percentage they purchased.
  5. If an event is canceled after late registration is closed, the Staker will receive their share of the ICM chip count payout based on the percentage they purchased.

Terms for Offering Action (If you are the player)

  1. If you ask for a markup of over 1, you must grant permission to publish your real name so any interested “Staker” can decide whether to purchase any action from you.
  2. You must announce the number of entries and re-entries (bullets) you offer to be staked.
  3. Players who sell multiple bullets will not be auto-registered for re-entry into the tournament. Any unused entries’ funds will be restored to the Staker account.
  4. Once all offered entries have been spent, players may not re-enter the tournament with their own bankroll.
  5. Playing a tournament on a different WPN site while playing a staked tourney on ACR Poker is considered multi-accounting and will be penalized.
  6. Other tournament rules apply at all times:
  7. All offers must be posted before the beginning of the tournament and will close five minutes before the tournament starts.
  8. Offers cannot be edited once posted if a Staker has purchased a piece of the action.
  9. Offers can be rescinded at any moment and up to five minutes before the tournament starts.
  10. Offers can include a “Markup,” an additional fee for the player’s action. For example, if the markup is 1.1, there is a 10% increase in cost on the player’s buy-in.

Terms for Purchasing Action (If you are the Staker)

  1. You can stake an unlimited number of players.
  2. You can purchase up to 90% of a player’s action, with percentages varying incrementally if a markup is present.
  3. You must purchase an equal percentage of all entries offered by the player.
  4. All purchased offers made by you are final and cannot be withdrawn.
  5. Players offering action can withdraw their offer to be staked up to 5 minutes before the tournament begins. Any purchased percentages will be returned to your account if this occurs.
  6. To ensure fairness and prevent action hoarding, percentages are approved in increments of 1% every 5 minutes. 5 minutes before the tournament starts, any remaining percentages will be released as equally as possible to you and the other stakers.
  7. Purchasing percentages from multiple WPN accounts is considered multi-accounting and will result in penalties.
