The win added another $111,000 to the long-time New York player’s bank
Vincent Moscati added another career milestone victory to his poker resume by taking the main event at the WSOP Circuit Tunica, Mississippi stop. The New York native earned $111,454 and claimed his 10th career WSOPC gold ring, a distinction earned by only 20 players in tour history. The win was especially satisfying to Moscati, who also claimed his ninth ring earlier in the same series in a $400 No-Limit Hold’em event.
The $1,700 main event at the Horseshoe Casino drew 311 entries across two starting flights to generate an overall prize pool of $562,065. There was a minimum cash of $3,404, and 54 players made the money. By Day 2, just 38 players remained in the competition. The tournament eventually narrowed down to a six-handed final table, and Moscati started in the middle of the group.
Jason Mendoza departed first in sixth place, then Roger Foley got taken out by Moscati. Casey Hatmaker, a five-time WSOP bracelet champion, got taken out in fourth place, also by Moscati. That continued, and Moscati sent out Michael Ledford in third place, leaving room for a last stand against Michael Esquivel.
Esquivel managed two double-ups during heads-up play to stay alive, but Moscati eventually regained the upper hand. The final hand saw Esquivel move all in with pocket sixes, only to be called by Moscati’s pocket eights. The board didn’t help either player, and Moscati sealed the win. Esquivel took home $74,552 for second place.
Moscatei has credited his current hot streak as being a case of a little extra luck, joking that it was the “baby run good” following recent involvement in assisting in the delivery of his newborn at home. This win adds to his lifetime live tournament totals to above $2.5 million, with more than $1 million stemming from his results at Circuit events.
