The win was worth over $173,000 and more bragging rights

Tony Gregg captured the title in Event #7 of the 2026 PokerGO Cup after defeating Darren Elias in heads-up play. The $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em tournament attracted 67 entries at the PokerGO Studio, and Gregg earned $173,075 and the trophy following a long day of competition.

Seven players returned for the final table with hopes of securing the title. Early action saw Jeremy Ausmus exit in seventh place after running pocket kings into an ace on the flop held by Chris Hunichen. Hunichen briefly built momentum and climbed near the chip lead.

Gregg faced a major turning point soon after. In a large pot against Hunichen, Gregg was close to elimination while his opponent held pocket queens. A king landed on the river, keeping Gregg alive and shifting the direction of the final table. Gregg later eliminated Hunichen in sixth place, gaining important chips.

The remaining players traded eliminations as the field narrowed. Elias knocked out Landon Tice, while Gregg eliminated Neil Warren. Elias then removed Qinghai Pan in third place to set up the final duel between the two experienced professionals.

The heads-up match began with the stacks nearly even. After a few hands, the players agreed to an ICM deal, splitting most of the remaining prize money while leaving $10,000 and the trophy still undecided. This allowed both competitors to reduce risk while still playing for the win.

Shortly afterward, Gregg’s ace-king held against Elias’ ace-deuce in a key pot that left Elias short on chips. Gregg finished the job soon after to secure the championship.

The win marks another strong performance for Gregg, who has been returning to more tournament action recently. He said competing against a tough group of regulars was exactly the challenge he wanted before the busy summer poker season begins.
