This victory puts Eggenberger’s name on the WSOP winners list and adds a major highlight to her career
It was an excellent way for Anca Eggenberger to earn her first gold bracelet. The Swiss poker player won the Ladies Championship event of WSOP Europe where there were blinds set at €1,000 (US$1,160).
There were 197 registrations at the tournament. As it happened, the field consisted of very talented players. With her victory, Eggenberger earned €40,298 (US$46,746) which turned into the largest live cash that she got in any tournament during her career.
To start off the final table, Eggenberger ranked 23rd in chips among the 30 players left in the competition. Despite having a small stack of chips, she managed to get to the money without rushing anything and making smart decisions.
When the final table began, she already accumulated enough chips to be able to contend for the top. Eggenberger played a good and balanced game which allowed her to pass the last few stages successfully.
The heads-up battle with Joo seemed to be the hardest part for Eggenberger. But she managed to dominate her opponent and even take some of his chips after some time. After some deals, she finally won the tournament.
The tournament took place at King’s Casino, a regular host for major European poker events. The venue once again provided the stage for players chasing one of the game’s most respected prizes.
