The event was the fourth-largest main event for the EPT
Stephen Song has added another major accomplishment to his poker career by winning the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona Main Event. The event, which celebrated the 20th anniversary of the EPT, drew 1,975 entries, making it the fourth-largest EPT Main Event in history. Song’s victory was especially significant, as it marked a career-defining moment for the 2022 Global Poker Index (GPI) leaderboard winner.
After an intense final table, Song faced off against UK poker pro Andrew Hulme in a heads-up battle. The two players agreed to a deal, with both walking away with seven-figure payouts. However, they continued to play for an additional €50,000 (US$53,700) and the prestigious title. In the end, Song secured the win and claimed the top prize of €1,290,386 (US$1.38 million).
This win is another highlight in Stephen Song’s already amazing poker career, which includes a World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet, multiple WSOP Circuit rings, and a World Poker Tour (WPT) Prime title. After his victory, Song expressed his excitement, saying, “This stop is just amazing. It’s been unreal. I’ve been a huge poker fanboy since I was a little kid. This is the pinnacle. I always said that winning an EPT would be the sickest one.”
The tour now moves forward to its next highly anticipated stop in Cyprus from October 9-20. This event promises to deliver even more thrilling moments and career-defining wins, further solidifying the EPT’s status as a premier destination for professional and aspiring poker players alike.
