Pot-Limit Omaha continues to be successful for the long-time grinder
Seth Davies and Daniel Negreanu were a couple of big winners at the recent PokerGO Tour Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) Series, but two other grinders would win multiple events.
Ten PLO events with buy-ins ranging from $5,100 to $25,200 were featured in the series, which concluded on Friday with the $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Dealer’s Choice event. James Calderaro would beat 21 entrants to take the $56,700 winner’s prize.
Davies, one of the world’s best high stakes players, had another huge win on Friday after taking down Event #9: $25,200 Pot-Limit Omaha Championship and $522,000 after outlasting a tough field of 72 entrants.
Samuli Sipila, who won two events at the series, ended the tournament in second place with his biggest tournament cash of $342,000, putting him over $1.7 million in live tournament earnings. The win would put Davies over the $25 million mark for his career.
Sipila won multiple events at the series, including beating 89 players in Event #4: $10,100 Pot-Limit Omaha for $240,300. He also took the win in Event #7: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty for $159,840 plus bounties over 74 entrants. Jim Collopy finished second for the same amount after cutting a heads-up deal.
Sipila recorded four final table appearances and two wins in the ten events he entered to take the overall series title. Eelis Parssinen also won two events, including Event #2: $7,600 Pot-Limit Omaha Bounty for $131,325 plus bounties over 103 entrants. Isaac Kempton would earn $64,975 as runner-up.
Parssinen would win Event #8: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha for $348,600 a week later over 83 players. He beat Alex Foxen heads-up, who cashed $224,100 in second place.
