Rokita ships a Triton Super High Roller Series event for his biggest pot to date
Australian poker player Roland Rokita outlasted 225 entrants at the $20,000 buy-in No-Limit Hold ’em event at the Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju festival, earning his best career cash of $904,000 and his first Triton title.
Besides the trophy and the cash, Rokita earned 1,152 Card Player of the Year points and moved into 38th place in the 2024 POY rankings presented by Global Poker.
The event took place at the Landing Casino Jeju, with a prize pool of $4,500,000 paid out to the top 39 finishers. The action began at the final table, with Aleksandr Zubov in the chip lead and Rokita in third. The field was reduced to seven after he scored a double knockout to send home Yu Xiangyu (9th) and Tobias Schwecht (8th).
Mikita Badziakouski, a four-time Triton winner, held pocket tens that would hold up against Damir Zhugralin’s A-10 suited (7th for $154,000) to narrow the field. Bracelet winner Leon Sturm (6th for $210,000) would be eliminated when his 7-6 suited couldn’t catch up to Rokita’s pocket eights.
Rokita held the same hand when scoring the next knockout after winning a flip against Zubov’s A-Q suited, hitting a set to send Zubov to the rail in fifth place with $278,000. He then sent home Badziakouski when his A-9 bested his opponent’s A-5, earning Badsiakouski $355,000 in fourth place.
Kiat Lee lost most of his stack with pocket sevens against Sirzat Hissou’s A-10. He would later lose a showdown with Rokita to secure $439,000 for third place.
Rokita began heads-up play with a 2:1 chip lead over Hissou. The final hand saw Hissou’s pocket deuces up against Rokita’s pocket nines, with the higher pair holding up to eliminate Hissou in second place for $599,000.
