The long-time player has hundreds of cashes, but always fell short of a title
After nearly two decades of competing at the World Series of Poker (WSOP), Roland Israelashvili finally secured his first gold bracelet. Known for his persistence and skill at the tables, the 66-year-old from Forest Hills, New York, won the WSOP Online $400 ‘PLOSSUS’ Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) knockout event on October 26, bringing home $23,519.85 in prize money along with his long-awaited bracelet.
Israelashvili’s journey to this moment has been remarkable. Since his first WSOP cash in 2005, where he finished 31st in a No-Limit Hold ’em event, he has amassed a record-breaking 253 cashes in bracelet events. This incredible achievement placed him as the player with the most cashes without a bracelet and second overall in WSOP cashes, trailing only behind seven-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu, who holds 267 in-the-money finishes.
The tournament, held online, saw fierce competition with 44 entries, culminating in a prize pool of $159,840. Although official name results have yet to be released, the screen name ‘prngls12’ has been publicly confirmed to be Israelashvili’s.
Israelashvili’s win attracted congratulations from many in the poker community, including three-time bracelet winner Ari Engel, who acknowledged his opponent’s perseverance and congratulated him for finally claiming his first WSOP bracelet. Engel even noted that he had been knocked out by Israelashvili in the tournament, underscoring the respect Israelashvili commands among fellow players.
Though this is his first WSOP bracelet, Israelashvili is no stranger to poker victories. He holds 11 WSOP Circuit gold rings, with an impressive 261 cashes on the circuit—a record among players. His latest achievement adds a significant highlight to an already impressive poker career, marking a breakthrough moment for one of the most dedicated players on the circuit.
