Authorities in Indiana have arrested an Indianapolis man over his alleged involvement
Law enforcement officials in Indiana have apprehended a second individual linked to the fatal shooting of professional poker player James Matt Lushin. Justin Andrew Jones, a 40-year-old resident of Indianapolis, now faces multiple felony charges, including murder and conspiracy.
This development comes weeks after the initial arrest of Ronald Brown Jr., as investigators piece together a motive centered on a significant financial dispute within an illicit narcotics enterprise. The arrest marks a critical step forward in seeking justice for the well-known poker figure who was discovered deceased in his suburban home earlier this spring.
The investigation reveals that the violence likely stemmed from a $50,000 debt related to a joint marijuana distribution operation. Ronald Brown Jr., the first suspect arrested in late March, was allegedly partnered with Lushin in this venture.
Authorities found evidence at the crime scene in Westfield, Indiana, suggesting that the victim was in the middle of processing product when he was ambushed and shot several times from behind. A rental vehicle used by the suspects was observed near the residence on the day of the incident, and subsequent searches of Brown’s property yielded narcotics packaging and a firearm matching the caliber used in the slaying.
Justin Andrew Jones was tied to the crime through forensic evidence and digital footprints. His fingerprints were located on a cardboard-covered license plate of the rental car utilized during the offense.
Additionally, investigators analyzed encrypted communications between Jones and Brown that detailed narcotics inventories and post-homicide activities. Location data from mobile devices further placed Jones in the vicinity of the primary suspect and the rental return location.
Lushin, who had amassed over $500,000 in career tournament earnings, is remembered by the poker community as a dedicated player and father.
