The win came just six weeks after his fourth-place finish at EPT Barcelona
Polish poker pro Tomasz Brzezinski capped off an incredible run on the European Poker Tour by winning the 2025 EPT Malta Main Event for $738,963. The victory came just six weeks after his fourth-place finish at EPT Barcelona, marking back-to-back final table appearances — a feat achieved by only 11 players in the tour’s history. Brzezinski, 37, now has more than $1.4 million in live tournament earnings and continues to climb the global rankings.
The $5,035,598 prize pool in Malta drew 898 total entries, rewarding 135 players with payouts. The field included several well-known pros such as Adrian Mateos, Juan Pardo, and Ben Heath, all of whom ran deep before bowing out before the final day. Brzezinski entered the last session in the middle of the pack, while Ukraine’s Mykhailo Ostash held the chip lead among the five remaining players.
The final day began with Norway’s Tom-Aksel Bedell as the short stack. His pocket deuces couldn’t hold against Ostash’s pocket threes, sending him out in fifth for $234,644. Soon after, Belarusian pro and former EPT Malta champion Aliaksei Boika followed in fourth place for $305,078 when his kings were cracked by a flopped set of fives. Spain’s Adria Calonge then exited in third for $396,630 after running into Brzezinski’s pocket tens.
That set up a long heads-up battle between Brzezinski and Ostash. The two struck a deal, each locking in $705,578 and leaving $33,385 plus the title to play for. What followed was a five-hour duel filled with momentum swings, with Ostash surviving multiple all-ins. Eventually, Brzezinski’s ace-jack outlasted ace-ten to leave his opponent short-stacked.
Moments later, Brzezinski sealed the win when his ten-four topped Ostash’s five-four. Surrounded by friends in the Casino Malta, the Polish champion celebrated his biggest career victory — a performance that solidified his rise as one of Europe’s most consistent new poker talents.
