Poker fans can watch as Martin tries to build his bankroll from zero
Numerous bankroll challenges have been streamed on Twitch over the years. However, popular poker streamer Kevin Martin is offering a new challenge called “Poker From $0,” which will be streamed 24/7.
The Canadian online poker pro will attempt to increase his bankroll from nothing. He’s also moving into a new house to stream the entire experience from different camera angles throughout the residence.
The former Big Brother Canada contestant and winner is using that experience to combine a reality show with poker streaming. “Welcome to the closest look into my life that there might ever be,” he noted in a promotional video for the new challenge. “If you wanted a reality show, we made our own reality show. I’ve put myself in a rigorous social experiment. I officially have no money, and I have to recreate my entire poker life.”
Martin isn’t really starting from nothing, with new Twitch subscribers adding 10 cents to the bankroll. He also sold several items to get started as cameras followed him to a pawn shop where he came away with $200 that he hopes to spin up to $5,000.
“Ideally, in my mind, this is all I need,” said Martin after visiting the pawn shop. “This is really an ember, and we’re going to aggressively bankroll (manage), and we’re going to see (where it goes).”
Besides playing poker, viewers can watch all of Martin’s activities in the house. Cameras are placed in the living room, where he plays online poker, the bedroom, the kitchen and even the bathroom.
Martin began the first day playing micro stakes and tournaments ranging between $5 and $10, with everything displayed on the screen for viewers to see. He ended the day with a $89 balance, so he still has a long road ahead.
