Schulman picked up $1.6 million as continues to excel at high-roller poker tables
Poker pro and commentator Nick Schulman once again showed why he’s one of the most prolific high rollers on the scene after winning his fifth World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet and $1.66 million last night at the festival in Las Vegas.
Schulman had to navigate through 318 entrants, 17 more than the 2023 event, who created an enormous $7.47 million prize pool. Schulman and heads-up opponent Noel Rodriguez were the only two finishers to secure a seven-figure payday at the 26th event on the WSOP schedule.
Six-time WSOP bracelet winner Sam Laskowitz ($118,552) was the first player eliminated at the nine-player final table after giving up his short stack to Shaun Deeb. Deeb ($153,302) couldn’t hang on, and was the next player knocked out when he fell to Dean Lyall for eighth place.
Yingui Li ($202,574) was the chip leader when the day began but was sent home by Schulman in seventh place. Roberto Perez ($273,414) was the next victim after his queen-nine was dominated by Schulman’s ace-nine to end the night in sixth place. British high roller Ben Heath ($376,762) finished in fifth place, just ahead of David Stamm ($529,833), who went to the rail in fourth place.
Noel Rodriguez busted Lyall ($760,083) in third to set up heads-up play, with Schulman holding a 5:1 chip lead. It didn’t take long for all the chips to be pushed in, with Schulman hitting two pair on the river to take the championship.
Schulman will turn 40 ahead of the 2025 Poker Hall of Fame nominations and said it would be a “tremendous honor” if he were considered for the award.
