The poker tournament series is now underway in Los Angeles
Ky Nguyen claimed his first PokerGO Tour title by winning the opening event of the 2025 PGT Pot-Limit Omaha Series. The Los Angeles-based poker pro and blogger, known as “Suited Superman,” topped a competitive field in the $5,000 buy-in tournament at the PokerGO Studio, earning $180,400 and adding another major victory to his career.
This win marks Nguyen’s second-largest tournament cash, behind his 2023 World Poker Tour Gardens Poker Open Championship victory, where he pocketed $357,380. His career earnings are now approaching $1.5 million, solidifying his reputation as a rising force in the poker world. Along with the prize money, he collected 624 Card Player Player of the Year points, making this his first POY-qualifying finish of 2025.
The tournament drew 164 entries, creating an $820,000 prize pool that paid out to the top 25 players. Several well-known pros made deep runs, including Daniel Negreanu, Sean Winter, and Ronald Keijzer. When the final table was set, two-time bracelet winner Bryce Yockey led the chip counts, with Nguyen sitting in the middle of the pack.
Nguyen’s momentum picked up after eliminating Yockey in a key hand, where his pocket aces held up against Yockey’s double-suited A-K-6-5. From there, he continued to dominate, knocking out six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus, who finished sixth for $41,000. John Riordan exited in fourth place after Nguyen rivered a straight, extending his chip lead heading into three-handed play.
The tournament concluded with a dramatic three-way all-in. Nguyen’s Q-J-10-4 connected on the flop to make the nut straight, eliminating both James Chen and runner-up Adam McEwan. Chen finished third for $82,000, while McEwan secured $118,900. Nguyen’s victory in the series opener sets the stage for an exciting season ahead.
