The poker event producer made a solid run in the latest PokerGO Mori’s Mix event
Poker Hall of Famer Mori Eskandani nearly secured victory in a tournament dedicated to his legacy but fell just short, finishing as the runner-up. The event, called Mori’s Mix, was part of the PokerGO Tour Mixed Games festival and featured a $10,000 buy-in. Players competed in a rotating mix of poker variants, including Limit Hold ’em, Omaha high, razz, stud, badugi, and triple draw deuce-to-seven lowball—games Eskandani himself favors.
Eskandani, a legendary figure in poker, has spent decades shaping the game’s television presence. As a producer, he played a key role in bringing iconic shows like High Stakes Poker and Poker After Dark to audiences. In 2018, his contributions were recognized with induction into the Poker Hall of Fame.
The tournament saw 70 entries, creating a prize pool of $700,000. Several big names reached the money, including Daniel Negreanu, who finished sixth, and Mike Gorodinsky, who ended his run in third place. Eskandani fought his way to the final heads-up battle against Maxx Coleman, a two-time WSOP bracelet winner with an impressive tournament track record.
Despite being at a chip disadvantage, Eskandani managed to take the lead at one point. However, Coleman regained control with a crucial stud hand, building momentum that carried him to victory. The final hand took place in Limit Hold ’em, where Eskandani’s pocket queens fell to Coleman’s pocket sevens after a dramatic river card completed a set. Coleman claimed the title and the $210,000 top prize, while Eskandani earned $136,000—one of the largest scores of his career.
The event was a fitting tribute to Eskandani’s impact on poker, and though he didn’t claim the title, his deep run showcased the skill and passion that have defined his long career.
