Two-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Nick Petrangelo outlasted a field of elite players to claim the coveted championship title and the top prize of $2,221,775. This marks Petrangelo’s second-largest career payout, falling just short of his $2.9 million win at the 2018 WSOP $100,000 High Roller.
The victory propels Petrangelo’s lifetime tournament earnings to over $38 million, solidifying his position at 17th on poker’s all-time money list. This impressive performance also bolstered his Card Player Player of the Year (POY) campaign. With 2,400 POY points awarded for the win, Petrangelo notches his second title and sixth final table appearance of 2024. He currently sits in 10th place in the overall POY race standings.
While full results haven’t been released yet, details of the final table showdown have emerged. Petrangelo entered the final day in second chip position, chasing leader Gustavo Ortega Jimenez.
The tournament witnessed the eliminations of Rehman Kassam (6th – $457,511) and Kurt Jewell (5th – $616,553) before Turkey’s Selahaddin Bedir secured a career-best score of $832,749 for his fourth-place finish. The UK’s Lewis Spencer also enjoyed a monumental run, bagging his first-ever seven-figure payday of $1,123,597 for his third-place finish, bringing his lifetime earnings to nearly $4.2 million.
The heads-up battle came down to Petrangelo’s pocket fives against Jimenez’s A-7. The board failed to improve Jimenez’s hand, awarding him the runner-up position and a $1,516,617 payout. Petrangelo’s strategic prowess and resilience ultimately secured him the prestigious championship title and a career-defining payday.
