The Poker Brat strips Kid Poker of almost his entire stack in one hand
Two of the biggest all-time winners in poker, Daniel Negreanu and Phil Hellmuth, would battle for an $83,600 cash pot in a hand at the end of the latest episode of No Gamble, No Future!
When the player’s hole cards were shown, the PokerGo commentator correctly predicted that all of the chips would go into the middle. Hellmuth, aka ‘The Poker Brat,’ would find himself with pocket aces, while Negreanu, aka ‘Kid Poker,’ sat with A-D, Q-D.
Hellmuth would slow play his aces, with just $7,000 in the pot before they saw the flop. The flop would reveal two diamonds, giving Negreanu instant action with his four cards to a flush and two over cards.
The players decided to run the board twice, which is common in many high-stakes cash games. The turn and river would come out club-heart both times, denying Negreanu the diamond he needed for a flush.
When it was over and Hellmuth collected his huge pot at the end of the night, he would stand up to give his traditional speech for the cameras.
Hellmuth began with a rhetorical question, asking, “Am I the best player in the world?” before giving viewers a long list of his accomplishments. Hellmuth is the best World Series of Poker player of all time and arguably the world’s top tournament player.
As far as being the ‘Best Poker Player in the World,’ that can be subjective.
Anyone can go to the WSOP website or the HendonMob to research the top money winners or who’s won the most bracelets. But to understand who the all-time best cash player is, you’d have to trust the opinions of people on the inside.
