The event will be held this Friday at Wynn Las Vegas
NBA star Russell Westbrook is teaming up with the World Poker Tour (WPT) for a charity event aimed at supporting underserved communities in South Los Angeles. Westbrook, also well-known philanthropist and poker enthusiast, is partnering with the WPT Foundation through his nonprofit, the Why Not? Foundation, for this special poker night fundraiser. The event, scheduled for this Friday, will take place at the Intrigue Nightclub inside Wynn Las Vegas, one of the city’s most prestigious venues.
This marks the fourth annual upscale fundraiser hosted by the Why Not? Foundation, which Westbrook co-founded with his wife, Nina, to empower individuals and families in underserved areas. The event is open to poker fans, basketball enthusiasts, and anyone looking to support a good cause.
A $7,500 donation secures a seat in the poker tournament, which is expected to attract top players, including WPT champion Tony Dunst, who will also provide live commentary. Additionally, donors will enjoy a one-night stay at Wynn on September 13 and access to pre- and post-tournament cocktail parties.
For those not interested in playing poker, a $1,200 donation offers entry to the other activities and cocktail events. The collaboration between Westbrook’s Foundation and the WPT Foundation highlights their shared mission to uplift underserved communities. WPT CEO Adam Pliska praised Westbrook’s vision, noting that their goals align perfectly.
Westbrook, who has averaged 21.7 points per game throughout his NBA career, continues to give back off the court, using his platform to create positive change in his community through events like this.
