The win also landed him the $4 million top prize
Moritz Dietrich has captured his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet after winning the 2024 WSOP Online Main Event. The Austrian-based German player triumphed over a massive field of 6,146 entries, walking away with the bracelet and a top prize of $4,021,012. This victory marked a major milestone in Dietrich’s career as he secured his first piece of WSOP hardware.
The final table was packed with some of the biggest names in online poker. High-stakes regulars such as Benjamin Rolle, who finished in 8th place and took home $651,921, and recent WSOP Main Event 10th-place finisher Diogo Coelho, who placed 5th for $1,421,478, were among the contenders. The table also featured prominent bracelet winners Isaac Baron and Rui Ferreira. Baron’s deep run ended in 4th place for $1,843,337 after a tough beat against Evgenii Akimov, who was the chip leader at the time.
A pivotal moment came when Akimov hit a straight to crack Baron’s pocket kings, leaving Baron with no chips and clearing the way for Akimov to continue his strong run. Akimov then eliminated Ferreira in 3rd place, earning $2,390,418 and setting the stage for a heads-up battle with Dietrich.
Heads-up play saw a coin flip early on, shifting Dietrich’s momentum. He quickly built a chip lead, sealing the deal after making a straight in a key hand that left Akimov on the back foot. The final hand saw Akimov shove with a small pair, but Dietrich’s second pair held, bringing the tournament to a close.
Akimov earned $3,099,896 as the runner-up, but the night belonged to Dietrich, who celebrated his breakthrough win and the hefty prize.
