The Canadian poker pro has featured prominently during the tournament series
Canadian poker professional Mike Watson continued his impressive run at the Triton Series by winning the $50,000 Bounty Quattro event in Montenegro. This victory came just days after his triumph in a $30,000 turbo tournament at the same poker venue.
Watson navigated a highly competitive field of 32 entries and a formidable final table that featured prominent players such as Linus Loeliger, Alex Foxen, Jason Koon, and Artur Martirosian. His first-place finish earned him a total payout of $621,000, which includes $240,000 collected through tournament bounties.
The unique Quattro Bounty format functions as a middle ground between standard and mystery bounties by increasing bounty values in a predictable manner as play advances. This second victory allowed Watson to break a tie and move past competitors Punnat Punsri and Matthias Eibinger into sole possession of second place on the all-time Triton title leaderboard.
With seven career titles, Watson now trails only leading player Jason Koon, who currently holds 12 victories. Watson expressed deep satisfaction with adding sole possession of second place to his poker resume, though he acknowledged that he does not expect Koon to feel threatened by his current momentum.
Watson may face immediate pressure on his newly acquired ranking because the series is progressing quickly. The high-stakes $100,000 Main Event has already reached its final table, where Danny Tang has established a commanding chip lead.
Tang currently holds five Triton titles, meaning a championship performance in the ongoing marquee tournament would elevate him into a joint third-place ranking on the leaderboard. This impending finish ensures that the leaderboard dynamics remain highly fluid as the elite series continues.
