“The Mouth” shows that he’s able to spew more than just foul or inappropriate language
A bizarre incident unfolded during Day 1B of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) when veteran poker player Mike “The Mouth” Matusow experienced what some might dub a medical episode at the poker tables.
I’ve seen it all now. Matusow starts puking in the middle of the room. They move the surrounding tables. D-Negs starting recording him for the vlog. Mikey finishes puking goes to his new table. Starts puking again. 🤢🤮

Fellow player Kris Burchfield took to Twitter to describe the shocking scene, revealing that Matusow had vomited “in the middle of the room.” Tournament officials were forced to relocate players at the surrounding tables to avoid the unpleasant aftermath. According to Burchfield, Matusow’s ordeal wasn’t over, as he subsequently experienced a second bout of illness at his new table.
Poker legend Daniel Negreanu captured footage of the incident, which later surfaced online. In the video, Matusow explained feeling unwell prior to the incident, experiencing symptoms such as sweating, rapid heartbeat, and abdominal pain. He joked about possibly attributing his illness to winning a pot.
Despite the unfortunate episode, Matusow managed to recover sufficiently to progress to Day 2 of the $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em “The Closer” event with a stack of 500,000 chips. However, he wouldn’t advance much further. While the incident undoubtedly disrupted the tournament’s flow, it has added a unique and unexpected chapter to the WSOP’s colorful history.
The poker world was also focused on the Poker Hall of Fame induction ceremony, with Patrik Antonius being named the latest inductee. However, Matusow’s unfortunate incident has captured the attention of the poker community and beyond, serving as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of live poker tournaments.
