The long-time WSOPC grinder is tied with Ari Engel for first place
Maurice Hawkins secured his 18th World Series Of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) ring at the Horseshoe Baltimore $1,700 Main Event, matching Ari Engel for the most WSOPC rings ever won. The victory also marked his sixth WSOPC Main Event title, further solidifying his place in the poker world. Hawkins took home $140,752 for the win, pushing his total live tournament earnings past $6.2 million.
The event drew 468 players, generating a prize pool of $709,020. Hawkins navigated the final table with skill and experience, ultimately defeating Dan Chalifour in heads-up play. Chalifour finished in second place, earning $94,305.
Despite the milestone, Hawkins’s win was clouded by controversy. During three-handed play, Divyam Satyarthi moved all in against Hawkins. The board contained four clubs, which should have given Satyarthi a flush and the winning hand. However, an oversight at the table led to his elimination in third place. By the time the mistake was realized, Hawkins had already claimed victory.
In his post-tournament interview, Hawkins credited his success to a combination of patience, skill, and faith. His bold style and confidence have made him a well-known figure on the circuit, and this latest achievement places him on the brink of setting a new WSOPC record.
With this win, Hawkins now shares the top spot for WSOPC rings with Engel, but given his track record, he may not remain tied for long. As the circuit continues, all eyes will be on Hawkins to see if he can secure ring number 19 and take sole possession of the record.
