This latest win puts Wantman at the top of the 2025 USPO leaderboard with 318 points, a total boosted by his previous final table appearance in Event #3. It’s also his second time winning an event in this series, having secured a similar victory last year.
Wantman’s path to the title wasn’t easy. He had to outlast a number of top-tier players, and the final table saw its share of surprises. Patrick Leonard, Isaac Kempton, and Masato Yokosawa were all eliminated before the final three. Stephen Chidwick, a consistent threat in these high-stakes events, was knocked out in third after Wantman gained momentum during a key hand.
The heads-up portion was a back-and-forth battle between Wantman and Yifu He, who was chasing his first PGT title. He started with a chip lead, but Wantman steadily chipped away and eventually took control. The final hand saw He holding two pair, only to run into Wantman’s trips, sealing the victory.
This win adds to Wantman’s already impressive track record, which includes over $8 million in total live earnings and consistent performances on the PGT circuit. His USPO victory not only brought a major payday but also shook up the season standings, placing him firmly in the chase for the Golden Eagle trophy.
With momentum on his side, Wantman is now a serious contender for top honors in the 2025 PGT season.
