For Konnikova, it’s another highlight in a journey that began in 2017 when she started playing poker to explore the role of luck and skill for her best-selling book.
Her victory in this WSOP event adds to an impressive year, marking the pinnacle of a career that has been on an upward trajectory since her breakout win at the 2018 PokerStars PCA National event, where she took home $84,600. Earlier in 2024, Konnikova secured her first WSOP Circuit ring in an online tournament, adding $57,532 to her growing earnings. She also achieved notable results in live tournaments, including multiple five-figure cashes in European Poker Tour (EPT) events in Paris, Monte Carlo, and Barcelona.
With over $750,000 in live tournament earnings to date, according to The Hendon Mob, Maria Konnikova has proven herself as more than just a skilled writer. Her poker career is flourishing, and her recent WSOP bracelet win showcases her continued dedication and success in the game.
