The German poker pro adds another $1,696,950 to his growing stack
Leon Sturm has added another major trophy to his growing résumé by winning the €100,000 (US$117,000) Super High Roller at EPT Barcelona. The 24-year-old German secured the title after reaching a heads-up deal with American pro David Coleman, earning a payout of €1,450,385 (US$1,696,950) for the victory.
The event drew 47 total entries, including 11 re-entries, creating a star-studded final table filled with some of poker’s toughest names. Among those chasing the title were Punnat Punsri, 2022 WSOP Main Event champion Espen Jorstad, and Jesse Lonis, who has been on a strong run of results in recent months.
Despite the heavy competition, Sturm remained steady throughout the event, eventually facing off against Coleman, the 2024 Global Poker Index Player of the Year, in a duel for the title.
This win marks a new milestone in Sturm’s already remarkable young career. He first drew global attention in 2023 by capturing the GGPoker $uper MILLION$ title and then, just days later, winning the WSOP $50,000 High Roller bracelet.
Those back-to-back victories established him as one of the brightest young stars in the high-stakes poker world. With his latest success in Barcelona, Sturm now pushes his lifetime live tournament earnings past the $10 million mark, according to CardPlayer figures.
Coleman, while missing out on the trophy, also secured a sizable payday under the terms of the deal. The matchup highlighted two of the most consistent performers in the high-stakes circuit, both of whom have built reputations for fearlessness and technical precision at the tables.
While Sturm celebrates this victory, the spotlight in Barcelona now shifts to the EPT Main Event, which has already moved into Day 2 following a record-breaking PokerStars Open earlier in the festival. With one of the biggest names in young poker talent now taking home a Super High Roller crown, EPT Barcelona continues to live up to its reputation as one of the premier stops on the global poker calendar.
