The Florida poker pro scored several big wins during the series
Justin Zaki closed out the 2025 PokerGO Cup in dominant fashion, winning the $25,000 buy-in finale and taking home $417,000. The Florida-based pro, who now boasts over $6.5 million in career earnings, secured his fifth recorded tournament victory by defeating Joey Weissman in a heads-up battle.
The final table featured several well-known players, each battling for a share of the prize pool. Jesse Lonis was the first to exit, shoving his short stack with king-seven against Clemen Deng’s ace-four. Deng paired his ace to send Lonis to the rail in seventh place with $59,000.
Michael Berk followed soon after when his ace-queen lost to Christian Roberts’ king-three. A king landed on the flop, ending Berk’s run in sixth place for $81,125. Roberts himself was eliminated in fifth place after his ace-queen fell to Zaki’s jack-ten. A dramatic two-pair runout sealed Roberts’ fate, earning him $110,625.
Four-handed play was brief, as Sam Soverel found pocket queens but ran into Weissman’s pocket aces. With no help from the board, Soverel exited in fourth, collecting $147,500. Deng followed shortly after, calling off his remaining chips with king-five against Weissman’s ace-king. An ace on the flop secured Deng’s third-place finish and a $206,500 payout.
Zaki held the lead as heads-up play began, but Weissman fought back, even taking a temporary lead before both players agreed to a deal. The deciding hand saw Weissman three-bet his pocket tens, only to be met with an all-in shove from Zaki, who held ace-ten. A dramatic runout gave Zaki a straight, pushing him into a dominant position. A few hands later, Weissman’s final shove with king-deuce ran into Zaki’s ten-seven, and a flopped trips secured the victory.
Despite finishing second, Weissman’s strong series performance earned him the PokerGO Cup title, accumulating over $930,000 in winnings and leading the overall PokerGO Tour standings.
