The Poker Hall of Famer took down the second event of the APT in Taipei
John Juanda has returned to the spotlight in a big way, earning his first Asian Poker Tour (APT) title in 15 years. The Poker Hall of Famer won the Single Day High Roller at the 2025 APT Taipei festival, taking home TWD 3,571,700 (US$117,870). The event drew 230 entries and helped push the total prize pool to nearly TWD 17 million (US$562,050).
This win adds to Juanda’s strong year so far, having already secured a title at the Poker Dream 16 in Jeju, South Korea earlier this year for roughly $288,284. His latest victory in Taipei came against South Korea’s Myunghwan Han in a heads-up battle that capped off one of the largest and richest festivals in APT history.
The 2025 APT Taipei series ran from April 25 to May 4 and included 126 events. It attracted 3,549 players from 51 countries, totaling more than 22,900 entries. Combined, the events generated a prize pool of TWD 612,341,874 (US$20.2 million).
Juanda’s return to the APT winner’s circle comes 15 years after he took down a High Roller at the 2010 APT Manila stop for $43,500. Over the years, he’s collected wins on major tours around the globe, including five World Series of Poker bracelets and a memorable EPT Barcelona Main Event title in 2015.
While Juanda’s recent win was a highlight, he wasn’t the only well-known pro making moves. Erick Lindgren also made headlines, turning a $25,000 satellite entry into a seven-figure prize at the Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Game in California.
With more than $26 million in career earnings, Juanda continues to show why he’s still one of the game’s most respected and dangerous tournament players.
