The latest win earned the American poker pro another $3.3 million to add to his growing stack
Jason Koon has added another trophy to his already impressive Triton Poker resume, winning the $150,000 No-Limit Hold’em event in Montenegro for his record-breaking 11th Triton title. The victory came after outlasting a 108-player field and earned him $3,393,656—his second-biggest live cash to date. This result also moved the 39-year-old American into fifth place on poker’s all-time money list, with his career earnings now exceeding $65 million.
Koon’s path to the win wasn’t easy, but it was familiar. Known for his consistency in high-stakes tournaments, he started the final table as the chip leader. His journey culminated in a heads-up match against longtime friend and mentor Ben Tollerene, making the win even more personal. Koon credited Tollerene as one of the first elite players he learned from when breaking into the poker world, making the moment all the more meaningful.
The Triton victory was Koon’s first since November 2023, when he won a $25K PLO event in Monte Carlo. While he had already established a healthy lead in Triton titles, this latest win pushes him even further ahead. His 11 titles are six more than the nearest contenders, a group that includes big names like Phil Ivey, Bryn Kenney, Danny Tang, and Mikita Badziakouski, each with five.
This event featured a total prize pool of $16.2 million, split among the top 17 finishers. Several well-known pros made deep runs, including Phil Ivey (4th), Matthias Eibinger (5th), and Eelis Parssinen (6th). Tollerene secured a deal before the final hand that guaranteed him over $3.4 million, making it the second-largest cash of his career.
Koon now has more than $33 million in Triton earnings alone, placing him second on Triton’s all-time money list behind Kenney. His continued dominance in this series underscores just how strong and focused his game remains.
