The high-stakes grinder joins Dnegs and others in promoting poker
Poker Royalty has announced it has signed a representation deal with ten-time Triton champion and high stakes pro Jason Koon, just a few days after he ended his agreement with GGPoker. Koon joins an outstanding list of pros, including Phil Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Antonio Esfandiari and Daniel Weinman, the 2023 WSOP Main Event champion.
“We are excited to be working with Jason, who is undoubtedly one of the greatest poker players in the game today,” stated Poker Royalty founder and CEO Brian Balsbaugh. “Jason’s enormous poker talent, impeccable reputation, and dedication to the community make him a fantastic poker ambassador.”
Koon has over $55 million in lifetime earnings, putting him third on the all-time money list, and holds a WSOP gold bracelet won at the $25,000 Heads-up Championship in 2021. He started playing poker in college and cashed at the WSOP for the first time in 2009. Koon broke out in 2016 after taking the SHRPO Championship for $1,000,000 and the PokerStars Championship Super High Roller for $1.6 million later that year.
He also played in GGPoker’s recent reality TV show, Game of Gold, and is among the poker community’s most esteemed players. “I’m thrilled to join the ranks at Poker Royalty and work alongside some of the greatest in the game,” said Koon. “Their reputation, contacts, and industry knowledge make them the best fit for me as I continue my professional career.”
Koon’s signing with Poker Royalty comes shortly after he announced the end of his relationship with GGPoker. Fedor Holz has taken over the role of GGPoker’s Integrity Ambassador. Koon held the position since 2021, leading the effort to establish the Poker Integrity Council (PIC) with Holz in 2022. Koon gave no reason for his exit from GGPoker.
