The tournament is one of several taking place as part of the annual UK Open
Jacqueline Sherwood emerged as the champion of the UK Open Ladies Championship, defeating a field of 95 entrants to secure the title and a career-best payday of £2,180 (US$2,769). The tournament, featuring a £115 (US$145) buy-in, created a total prize pool of £9,020 ($11,453), with payouts extending to the top 12 finishers. The event was full of women power, which has been increasingly present in the poker industry.
The action at the final table was fierce, with players vying for a share of the prize money. Rose Cope was the first to exit, finishing ninth for £350 (US$444). Olivia Wainright followed in eighth place, earning £400 (US$508), while Peggy Crawford, a past WSOP Circuit ring winner, took seventh for £450 (US$571).
Sophie Stubbs, who has multiple deep runs in UK poker events, finished in sixth place, collecting £500 (US$635). Carole Clarke, a regular in women’s and senior tournaments, ended her run in fifth, taking home £580 (US$737).
Susan Adams secured fourth place and pocketed £850 (US$1,080), pushing her career live tournament earnings past $40,000. Emma Wilkinson, who previously made a deep run in the WSOP Millionaire Maker, finished third, earning £1,200 (US$1,524). This set up a heads-up battle between Sherwood and Natalia Stoddard, with no deal made. Stoddard ultimately finished in second place, collecting £1,670 (US$2,121).
Sherwood’s victory marks a significant milestone in her poker career, as she outlasted a competitive field to claim the championship. The UK Open festival continues with more events, giving players additional chances to chase titles and substantial payouts.
