The long-time grinder ships a WSOPC event in Pompano Beach, Florida, for over $245K
The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring event at Harrah’s Pompano Beach has concluded, with Hamid Izadi taking the title and a respectable first-place prize of $245,225. He beat a field of 917 entrants to get there and continues to prove why he’s one of the top poker grinders in the US.
The Georgia resident is a regular face on the WSOPC, amassing over $800,000 in winnings from the tour leading up to this event. “I have six rings, but this is another level for me. It’s not easy to win, you have to go through a lot of good players, but today was my day,” said Izadi following the win. “The cards went my way, I played my best, I believe, and I got the result I wanted.” The win is Izadi’s biggest career tournament cash, putting his total earnings at more than $1.6 million.
Turnout for the event surpassed expectations, with the $1 million guaranteed prize pool going over that amount by almost $390,000. The top 102 finishers were in the money, with 21 taking home at least five figures.
Izadi held a slight chip lead against Boris Kasabov when heads-up play began. After a tough hand that put Izadi significantly behind at one juncture, he got it together and turned things around in the final hand.
Kasabov pushed all-in with Ace-Six suited up against Izadi’s Ace-Queen offsuit. Izadi was in the lead as Kasabov got no help on the board to secure Izadi’s win. Kasabov would take home $151,561 for his second-place finish.
Gregory Spinder finished third for $111,578, and Michael Lydon cashed $83,096 for fourth place.
