The German poker pro continues to show off with his latest win in the Triton Poker Jeju Festival
The 2024 Triton Poker Jeju festival in South Korea drew 269 entrants who paid the $15,000 buy-in, creating a record $4,035,000 prize pool. The title would go to 30-year-old German poker pro Fedor Holz, who would earn the $786,000 top prize. His 19th title gives Holz 119 career cashes and over $42.8 million in earnings, good enough for 11th place on the all-time money list.
The top 47 finishers at the Landing Casino Jeju event finished in the money. Seth Gottlieb was the chip leader at the final table and increased his lead after eliminating bracelet winner Pieter Aerts (9th for $81,000) on the first hand. Holz then sent Ken Tong (8th for $98,000) to the rail to cut the field to seven.
Josh Mccully fell next to Nick Petrangelo in seventh place ($134,000), and Lun Loon was eliminated in sixth by Dimitar Danchev to earn $182,000. Holz then secured a big double-up against Dominykas Mikolaitis, leaving him short before he finished fifth for $240,000.
Petrangelo’s tournament ended when he was unable to come from behind against Gottlieb and finish fourth for $303,000. The American’s 164th recorded cash puts him at almost $33.2 million in career earnings.
Danchev’s A-4 suited was then beaten by Holz’s A-10 after he made a diamond flush to earn the knockout and send Danchev home with $375,000 in third place.
Holz held a 20,750,000 to 33,050,000 chip lead over Gottlieb to start heads-up play, which he extended early. Gottlieb pushed all-in with Q-10 offsuit against Holz’s pocket jacks on the final hand, but the move failed, and he wound up in second place for $500,000.
