Personal plans and new business projects are keeping him away from the felt

German poker star Fedor Holz has announced that he plans to step away from the professional poker scene to focus on family life and new business projects. The 32-year-old shared the decision publicly, explaining that poker will no longer be the center of his daily routine.

Holz became one of the most recognizable players of the modern tournament era. Originally from Saarbrücken, he first gained attention online playing under the screen name “CrownUpGuy.” His analytical style and fearless approach quickly earned him success in high-stakes events.

His breakthrough moment on the live stage came in 2016 during the World Series of Poker. Holz captured the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop title, collecting nearly $5 million. That result helped launch him into the elite group of international high roller regulars.

Over the years, Holz built an impressive tournament résumé. He won two WSOP bracelets and recorded more than $50 million in live earnings, making him the most successful German tournament player to date. His results placed him among the top names in global poker.

Beyond tournament victories, Holz also became involved in projects connected to the game. He worked on training and mental performance platforms designed to help players improve both strategy and mindset. Those efforts showed his interest in influencing poker beyond simply competing.

The announcement about stepping away from poker was calm and direct. Holz said he and his partner want to dedicate more time to their family while also working on launching a new investment fund that will take priority in the coming years.

The decision does not appear to be a dramatic farewell from the game. Holz indicated that he might still attend a few select tournament stops each year, particularly major festival events that attract the biggest names in poker.

Leaving the professional grind at 32 is unusual in a game where many players compete for decades. Holz, however, has already achieved more than most professionals could hope for in a lifetime of tournaments.

His departure marks the end of an important chapter for one of poker’s most successful modern players, even if he occasionally returns to the table for special events.
