Daniel Negreanu secured his 11th PokerGO Tour title on Friday, claiming victory in the $5,100 Pot-Limit Omaha event at the PokerGO Studio in Las Vegas. The win, which came after a dramatic comeback, marked his second title of the year and continued his strong performance in high-stakes tournaments leading up to the World Series of Poker.
The event attracted 159 entrants, creating a competitive field that saw Negreanu enter the final table with a chip lead. However, the advantage was slim, with Xiaoxiao Song and Bryce Yockey close behind. The final session saw shifts in momentum as Song gained control early, while Yockey struggled and exited in sixth place with $39,750. Song’s fortune soon turned as well, and he was eliminated in fifth place for $47,700.
James Chen emerged as a dominant force, sending Eric Blair out in fourth place for $59,625 before also eliminating Dylan Weisman, who finished third with $79,500. That set up a heads-up showdown between Chen and Negreanu, with Chen holding a commanding 5-to-1 chip lead.
Negreanu wasted no time mounting his comeback, chipping away at the deficit before securing a crucial double-up when his pocket aces held against Chen’s pocket kings. With the chip stacks nearly even, the momentum shifted in Negreanu’s favor. He eventually pulled ahead and finished off the match by hitting a set of kings, securing the title and a $182,850 payday. Chen collected $115,275 for second place.
With this latest win, Negreanu now has over $55.3 million in live tournament earnings. His early-season success positions him well for the rest of the PokerGO Tour, as the PGT PLO Series continues with its next high-stakes event.
