The American poker grinder continues to make deep runs at the tables
The 2024 Triton Super High Roller Series Jeju recently completed its $50,000 bounty turbo event after 108 players entered, setting aside $15,000 from each buy-in for the bounties. Players would earn $60,000 for each person knocked out after only 25% of the field remained. The main prize pool totaled $3,780,000, with the top 17 finishers in the money.
When the single-day event was over, Dan Smith would hold all the chips and collect five bounties, including his own. He secured $300,000 in bounties and the $951,000 top prize as the event winner.
The win was Smith’s second Triton title after winning the $200,000 invitational event last fall in Monte Carlo for nearly $3.9 million. His career Triton earnings are now over $19.5 million, making up a huge part of his $54,242,731 in total career cashes.
The win also moves Smith into fifth place on poker’s all-time money list, surpassing Mikita Badziakouski. The World Poker Tour champion and World Series of Poker bracelet winner is one of only seven players to exceed $50 million in total winnings.
Smith also finished seventh in a $25,000 buy-in event earlier in this series, earning 1,419 Card Player – Player of the Year points for the two events and moving to 32nd place in the 2024 Global Poker POY standings.
Seth Davies ($418,000) is 20th in the POY rankings after finishing third, and Sirzat Hissou ($279,000) moved into 11th place after finishing fifth. David Coleman was the runner-up, taking home $642,900 and 850 POY points to rank second on the leaderboard.
Tom Dwan ended the tournament in fourth for $346,000 after losing a huge pot to Smith down the stretch when he revealed a higher flush.
