The WSOP Circuit Playground Closer leads Taylor to his first big win
Forty-nine players would sit down for Day 2 of Event #12: $600 No-Limit Hold ’em Closer at the World Series of Poker Circuit Playground. When the dust settled, Christopher Taylor would secure the ring and take the biggest cut of the prize pool. The Newfoundland native also took home $26,190 after outlasting 320 players.
Isabelle Tremblay ($3,500) was the first to fall at the final table when her King-Jack couldn’t catch up to Louis Pierre Daniel Collette’s Queens. A short time later, Charles-Eric Benoit ($4,400) would exit in eighth place. Ghislain Pigeon ($5,400) was the next to push all-in but would go home in seventh place after losing to Anthony Potis.
The fast pace continued as Nicolas Duteau ($6,500) was eliminated in sixth place a short time later, holding ace-king against the kings of Collette. Potis ($7,800) would settle for fifth place after pushing in his short stack against Collette’s pocket kings.
The final four players would agree to an ICM chop, with Deven Lane taking the biggest cut. Collette ($18,150) would then finish in fourth just before Taylor went on a run. He would win a few modest pots against Lane and take the chip lead after his King-Jack suited hit a flush vs. Lane’s Queens.
Lane ($19,245) would finish in third place after losing with two pair against Taylor’s set. Then, on the first hand of heads-up play, Taylor jammed and got called by Zacharie Desautels ($18,415), who finished second, giving him the ring and the World Series of Poker Circuit championship.
