The poker pro has once again captured a poker title to add to his growing collection
Chris Moneymaker has added another significant victory to his already impressive 2024 poker season. The 48-year-old poker icon claimed the title at the Enjoy Poker Tour $1,650 buy-in main event in Punta del Este, Uruguay, yesterday, walking away with $179,770 in his pocket. This latest win not only marks Moneymakerâs second title of the year but also his fourth final-table appearance, continuing his strong run on the live tournament circuit.
Moneymakerâs win at the Enjoy Poker Tour brings his career earnings to over $7.5 million, further cementing his legacy in the poker world. In addition to the substantial prize money, Moneymaker earned 840 Card Player Player of the Year points, which moved him into 59th place in the 2024 POY standings.
The main event attracted over 650 entries, with the top 83 finishers receiving a share of the prize pool. Moneymaker began the final table in third place, behind Oscar Alache and Gaspar Fernandez. He quickly made his move, winning a key hand with a turned straight that put him in second place. His momentum continued as he knocked out Bartolo Belluscio in sixth place, followed by eliminating Gaspar Fernandez in fifth with A-J against A-2.
The heads-up match saw Moneymaker face Francisco Benitez, with Moneymaker holding a slight chip lead. The final hand was a dramatic one, as Moneymakerâs kings and fives bested Benitezâs pair, securing the victory.
This win is part of an outstanding 2024 for Moneymaker, who earlier this year finished sixth in a Moneymaker Poker Tour $500 mystery bounty event. He also claimed a significant victory at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Montenegro, winning a $25,000 buy-in event for $903,000 and finishing third in another event for $311,000. If his streak remains this way, this great poker player will continue to make news before the year is over.
