Several high-rolling regulars once again proved themselves in the European Poker Tour
The 2024 European Poker Tour Monte Carlo festival has come to an end, with several big tournaments crowning champions during the final weekend, including €5,300 main event winner Derk Van Luijk. Three popular high rollers also claimed wins at the series to move up in the 2024 Player of the Year standings presented by Global Poker.
Stephen Chidwick outlasted 95 entrants to win the €10,200 buy-in No-Limit Hold ’em event. The top 13 finishers split the $995,220 prize pool, with Chidwick taking home $264,464 after defeating Steve O’Dwyer heads-up for the title.
Chidwick is now second in the 2024 POY standings and is third all-time with over $58.2 million in career live cashes. O’Dwyer secured $171,288 as runner-up, bringing his career earnings to over $42.3 million to rank 14th on the all-time earnings list.
Luca Marki of Switzerland finished ahead of 247 players to win $1,172,848 after cutting a deal with Mauricio Salazar Sanchez ($1,026,000) in the €25,000 buy-in high roller event for his biggest career live cash. He also picked up 1,428 POY points to put himself seventh in the current standings.
Masashi Oya finished fourth for $464,616 to wrap up a very lucrative series at Monte Carlo. He cashed for over $1.4 million with a win and second-place finish in two earlier high-roller events at the festival.
Juan Pardo won the series’ final €25,000 buy-in high roller event over 35 entrants after a showdown with career money leader Justin Bonomo to take the $313,146 winner’s prize. Bonomo took home $204,228 as runner-up to increase his career live tournament earnings to $65.9 million.
