Kornuth took down the $1,000 FLIP & GO No-Limit Hold’em for $155,000
The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continues to crown champions, and this time it’s Chance Kornuth adding another prestigious WSOP bracelet to his collection. The 38-year-old poker pro emerged victorious in Event #85: $1,000 FLIP & GO No-Limit Hold’em, outlasting a field of 1,088 hopefuls to secure the coveted hardware and a hefty $155,446 payday.
This win elevates Kornuth to an elite group of poker players. He now joins the ranks of only 73 players in history who have managed to secure four or more WSOP titles. With this latest triumph, Kornuth’s impressive career earnings have climbed to nearly $19.3 million, solidifying his place as a true force to be reckoned with on the felt.
The $1,000 FLIP & GO No-Limit Hold’em format made its live WSOP debut in 2021 and has proven to be a hit with players. The fast-paced action starts with a unique twist – an all-in blind flip at each table. Players receive three cards, play a “pineapple” hand (discarding one card after the flop), and then the remaining board cards are dealt to determine the winner. Those fortunate enough to survive the initial flip advance to a more traditional No-Limit Hold’em tournament structure.
The large field of 1,088 hopefuls saw only 136 players navigate their way to Day 2, guaranteeing themselves a minimum cash of $2,200. Among the notable players who made deep runs in the tournament were Shannon Shorr (25th place), Brad Owen (21st place), Danny Wong (18th place), Georgios Sotiropoulos (11th place) and Mike Leah, who finished in 3rd.
Kornuth’s victory marks another exciting chapter in the 2024 WSOP. With several events still on the calendar, poker fans can expect to see more thrilling battles and crowning moments as the world’s best players continue to vie for poker glory.
