The Global Poker champ doesn’t slow down as he captures another victory
In a display of poker prowess, Ryan “MrGoldenPair” Smoot has once again proven himself as a leading figure in the online poker scene. The recent Global Poker GOAT VI Main Event showcased his remarkable skill, as he triumphed in the Sweeps Coins (SC) tournament. This victory is particularly notable as Smoot had only recently claimed a major win in the Global Poker x PokerNews Cup just weeks prior, further solidifying his status as a dominant player.
The GOAT VI series, which began on July 15, featured two separate Main Events: one for Gold Coins (GC) players and another for Sweeps Coins participants. The GC Main Event attracted 238 players to the GC 99,000 No-Limit Hold ’em tournament, where “GavinBS” emerged victorious, claiming a grand prize of GC 8,922,960 from the GC 40,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.
In contrast, the SC Main Event boasted an impressive turnout of 1,127 entrants. Smoot, alongside “BSoxfan23,” faced off in a riveting heads-up battle for the championship. Ultimately, Smoot prevailed, securing SC 33,900 in prize money. The runner-up, BSoxfan23, earned SC 25,000, while “Jaybangs” took third place with SC 19,800, and “New2Game” rounded out the top four with SC 13,600.
The conclusion of the sixth Global Poker GOAT series marked a successful run for the social poker site, highlighted by standout performances from players like Smoot and WSOP bracelet winner Ryan Laplante. Laplante also added to his accolades by winning Event #22, an SC 33 tournament, which earned him SC 3,096 and his second Global Poker trophy.
The series wrapped up with eight final champions crowned—four in each category—bringing a thrilling three-week online poker event to a close.
