The long-time player traveled all the way to the Czech Republic to score the win
Brazilian poker pro Vivian Saliba claimed her first-ever World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet at the 2024 WSOP Europe. She triumphed in Event #4: €2,000 (US$2,237) Pot-Limit Omaha, defeating 229 other participants to secure a €91,400 (US$102,252) top prize at King’s Resort in Rozvadov, Czech Republic.
Saliba’s win marked a major milestone in her poker career, as she had previously reached five WSOP final tables without clinching a title. After the victory, Saliba expressed her relief, stating that she had been eagerly chasing the coveted bracelet. “I was really aiming for the bracelet. Of course, I feel happy, but I’m mostly relieved,” she told reporters after the event.
The event lasted nearly 17 hours, and Saliba had to overcome a fierce final table. The heads-up battle against Germany’s Markus Anheier was relatively short, spanning just over two levels of play. Anheier, despite a strong performance, walked away with a runner-up finish and €59,700 (US$66,788), which represented a massive boost to his poker resume. Saliba, with her newly-won title, now has lifetime poker earnings exceeding seven figures.
Saliba’s aggressive but composed style helped her navigate the complex field, and her experience in PLO shone throughout the final stages. At one point during the tournament, she had to fend off reigning champion Hokyiu Lee, who was eliminated in third place after an intense battle. Saliba’s ability to shift momentum in key moments allowed her to maintain control when it mattered most.
This bracelet victory not only cemented Saliba’s status in the poker world but also marked a breakthrough for Brazilian women in poker. Saliba will now shift her focus to upcoming events in the WSOP Europe, with her competitive spirit and experience driving her toward further success.
