The GPI Player of the Year continues to make deep runs at the tables

The World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) recently wrapped up its latest event at Harrah’s Pompano Beach in Florida, as more than a dozen ring events were played between February 1 and 12. The WSOPC Pompano Beach event delivered several noteworthy winners, including reigning GPI Player of the Year Bin Weng and East Coast grinder Scott Baumstein.

Weng continues his impressive play in 2024 and won his second Circuit ring and $15,272 in Event #12: $400 No-Limit Hold ’em as the Philadelphia grinder defeated heads-up opponent Anderson Premdas to take the title. His biggest cash this year was a ninth-place finish at the Borgata Winter Open Deep Stack event for $30,855 in January.

Weng earned the 2023 GPI Player of the Year title after an impressive year in which he earned over $6.6 million in live tournament cashes. He achieved his first $1 million payday at the Borgata’s $5,300 buy-in The Return and had three WPT wins, including the $25,000 High Roller at the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas. Weng would outlast 194 players and cut a deal with Thomas Bolvin to flip for the title and take home another $958,279.

He had more than 50 finishes in the money in 2023 and was first on the Global Poker Index (GPI) leaderboard for 22 weeks.

Weng also entered the $600 buy-in Ring Event #13 and finished 27th out of 181 entries. He would pick up another 91.42 POY points with his win at Pompano Beach, putting him over $8.6 million in total live earnings. Premdas would secure $9,438 for his second-place finish.
