Taking down the XXX marked the young player’s biggest cash to date
Artisom Lasousk made a strong debut at the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series with a win in Event #5: $40,000 Mystery Bounty No-Limit Hold ’em 7-Handed tournament at the Montenegro series. The relatively unknown Belarusian survived over 151 entrants for a career-best live tournament cash of $669,000 and 12 bounty tokens, which could increase his winnings to over $1 million after the mystery bounties are drawn on Friday.
Eight players sat down at the final table, looking to take home the biggest share of the $6,040,000 prize pool. Stephen Chidwick ($82,000) was the first player sent to the rail by Chris Moneymaker.Â
Danny Tang’s ($114,000) pocket eights failed to hold up against the ace-ten suited of Daniel Rezaei, as he bowed out in seventh place. Over two hours later, Rezaei called Lasouski’s all-in with jack-ten against his Ace-Deuce suited. Lasouski hit an Ace on the flop to end Rezaei’s tournament with $156,000 plus his bounties.
Dylan Linde ($202,000) was the next player eliminated when he pushed all-in with King-Jack vs. Lasouski’s Ace-Deuce to fall in fifth place. Ju then tripled up to increase his stack after taking a three-way pot against Lasouski and Nikita Kuznetsov ($253,000) to send the latter home in fourth place.
Moneymaker ($311,000) didn’t have the same luck as when he won the series’ opening event and couldn’t escape after shoving all-in with Jack-three against Ju’s King-10 to finish the tournament in third place.
Lasouski started heads-up play with more than a 2:1 chip lead over Ju. On the final hand, he pushed all-in on the river with pocket Queens, which were good enough to beat Ju’s eight-six offsuit and give him his first Triton Poker title. Ju earned $452,000 for second place.
