Grinding finally paid off as the 66-year-old captured his second-largest cash to date
Art Peacock celebrated his 66th birthday in grand fashion, securing his first World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) gold ring at Harrah’s Pompano Beach. The victory came in the stop’s $1,700 buy-in main event, where Peacock outlasted a competitive field of 914 entries to claim the top prize of $230,794. This marked the second-largest cash of his career and pushed his total live earnings past $1.6 million.
Despite his extensive experience in poker tournaments, Peacock described this win as his most meaningful achievement. He acknowledged the challenge of competing against a tough field filled with seasoned pros and circuit regulars, noting that the experience has motivated him to participate more frequently in WSOPC events moving forward.
The tournament generated a prize pool of over $1.3 million, surpassing its initial $1 million guarantee. The top 101 finishers earned a payout, with each making at least $4,227. Day 2 saw the remaining players battle for a spot at the final table, eliminating notable contenders such as James Calderaro, Kyle Julius, and Fabrizio Gonzalez along the way. By the time only seven players remained, Peacock held the chip lead and maintained control through the final stretch.
At the final table, early eliminations set the stage for a three-way showdown between Peacock, World Poker Tour champion Darryll Fish, and Florida poker veteran Raminder Singh. Peacock eliminated Singh in third place after both made full houses, but his aces-full held the advantage.
Entering heads-up play with a strong lead, Peacock faced a determined Fish, who managed to double up three times. However, Peacock remained steady and secured the win when his flush overpowered Fish’s pair. Fish took home $153,860 for second place, bringing his career total above $5.7 million.
After the win, Peacock expressed his appreciation for the competition and the tournament staff, highlighting his history of success at Harrah’s Pompano Beach. With this milestone victory, he has firmly established himself in the WSOP Circuit scene.
