The victory also puts Zobian at the top of the series’ leaderboard
Six events have been completed at the 2024 PokerGO US Poker Open, with Aram Zobian now holding a big lead on the series’ leaderboard. He shipped Event #6: $15,100 No-Limit Hold ’em for $264,290, the biggest payout of the series so far. Zobian beat out 62 entrants who paid the $15,100 buy-in, taking the biggest share of the $930,000 prize pool and 298 PGT Points.
At the six-player final table, John Andress’ ace-king fell to Joey Weissman’s pocket aces, busting him in sixth place for $51,150. Shortly after, short-stacked Dan Shak’s ten-nine was overpowered by Brock Wilson’s ace-ten, giving him fifth place and $69,750.
Weissman ($93,000) would take the last five-figure score of the tournament in fourth place after Zobian hit a straight on the river to beat his trip sevens.
Wilson would call off his last few big blinds with nine-seven after Zobian shoved all-in from the small blind with ace-nine. Both would improve their hands to two pair, nines and threes, with Zobian holding an ace-kicker that would eliminate Wilson in third for $130,200.
Zobian had more than a 2:1 chip lead before starting the heads-up battle with Sam Laskowitz, but couldn’t take him down. The two would later strike a deal that left $20,000 and the stylish eagle trophy on the table.
On the final hand, Laskowitz would catch trip kings on the river, but the king of spades would also give Zobian a flush and the win. Laskowitz would take home $219,310 as runner-up.
Zobian has a 200-point lead on the US Poker Open leaderboard. The winner of Event #7 will earn $288,000 and 288 PGT Points, which isn’t enough to overtake Zobian.
