The win comes a year after he was eliminated in third place in the same event

Anthony Finley secured his latest victory by winning the Oklahoma State Championship of Poker $800 Main Event one year after finishing third in the exact same tournament. The American player outlasted a competitive field to secure the first-place prize of $58,803 and the coveted championship trophy.

Finley achieved this monumental win after defeating runner-up Arturo Toscano during an intense heads-up battle at the final table. His triumph represents a significant career milestone and showcases a massive redemption arc from his previous deep run in the regional tournament.

The champion managed to navigate his way into the tournament through a bargain $140 satellite entry that he decided to play on a whim. Only 29 competitors out of 417 total entrants returned for the final day of action, where eliminations occurred rapidly.

Finley entered the final table ranked fifth in chips while Tandi Stevens held the initial lead. Toscano generated early momentum by knocking out multiple opponents, but Finley stayed patient while dealing with an unfavorable table draw. The eventual winner preserved his chip stack during a prolonged five-handed stalemate before surging forward during the final stages of play.

Experience from the previous year provided a massive confidence boost for Finley, who previously struggled against heavy aggression. He adjusted his strategy this year by driving the action and applying pressure to his opponents when necessary.

During the heads-up match, Toscano held a temporary advantage before Finley won several consecutive pots without showcasing his cards. The deciding hand occurred when Finley turned a full house and faded the river card to secure the final pot.

Toscano earned $36,344 for his second-place finish, while third-place finisher Dylan Murrell walked away with $25,557 from the prize pool.
