The victory pushed her all-time tournament winnings to almost $2 million
Angela Jordison secured her second Major Series of Poker Tour title with a victory at Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, Iowa. The win earned her $95,381, pushing her career tournament earnings past $1.7 million. This marks her second title in just a few months, following her win at Ameristar Casino Hotel East Chicago in September 2024, before the series rebranded from its original Mid-States Poker Tour name.
Jordison faced early struggles in the tournament, particularly leading up to the final table. She lost a critical blind-versus-blind hand against T.J. Murphy, leaving her among the short stacks. However, she credited her preparation and focus on short-stack strategies for helping her navigate the late stages of the event.
Despite starting the final table at a disadvantage, she steadily built momentum by securing key knockouts, including eliminations of Jason Sell and Kevin Berthelsen.
The $1,110 buy-in event drew 513 entries across two starting flights, generating a prize pool of nearly half a million dollars—more than doubling the initial $200,000 guarantee. The top 55 players earned a minimum payout of $2,199. As the field narrowed, Murphy maintained control, eliminating multiple opponents, including Paul Cross and Steve Funderman. Jordison, however, found her rhythm and entered heads-up play against Murphy with a slight chip lead.
In the final hand, both players committed their stacks on a board showing Q-J-9-2-2. Murphy’s two pair with J-6 weren’t enough to beat Jordison’s flopped straight with 10-8. With that, she locked in the victory while Murphy settled for a career-best $76,736.
The MSPT continues its schedule with another event in Iowa at Riverside Casino from March 27-30, giving players another shot at a major tournament title.
