The grinder turns $1,100 into $161,513, the largest payout of her career
Angela Jordison made a significant mark in the poker scene this past weekend after winning the Mid-States Poker Tour (MSPT) Main Event at Ameristar East Chicago. The tournament, which had an entry fee of $1,100, attracted 861 participants. Jordison, a well-known figure in the poker community, claimed the top prize of $161,513, the highest payout of her career to date.
Before this win, Jordison’s biggest payday was $151,544, which she earned by finishing third in the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Event #18: $1,000 NLH Freezeout. This latest victory has been a long time coming for Jordison, who has been chasing an MSPT title for years.
After the win, she expressed her excitement and fulfillment, sharing that winning an MSPT event had always been one of her major goals. She emphasized her love for the tour, praising everything from the price point to the staff.
Jordison entered the heads-up phase of the tournament with a commanding chip lead over her opponent, Miguel Martinez. The final hand saw Martinez push all in with pocket tens, only to be called by Jordison, who held ace-seven of clubs. The flop brought two clubs, and the turn delivered a third, giving Jordison a flush and the victory. Martinez finished in second place, taking home $99,395.
Jordison’s latest achievement adds to an impressive poker resume. In 2023, she was a standout at the 4th Annual Global Poker Awards, where she narrowly missed out on the GPI Female Player of the Year award but was honored as the Breakout Player of the Year. That year, she cashed nearly $600,000 in live tournaments, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the game.
This victory was particularly sweet for Jordison, as it marked her first MSPT title after making it to four final tables in the past, where she consistently finished in fifth place. Her persistence and dedication to the game finally paid off, and she emerged as the champion.
