The next WSOP circuit series gets underway on January 10
The World Series of Poker International Circuit (WSOPC) is returning to the Casino de Marrakech at the luxurious Es Saadi Marrakech Resort in Morocco. From January 10 to January 19, this ten-day poker festival will feature 12 WSOPC ring-awarding events, including the highly anticipated Main Event. Players from around the globe are expected to compete for these coveted prizes, making the resort a hub for top-tier poker action.
The series kicks off on January 10 with the No-Limit Hold’em Opener. This event features three starting flights, each with an entry fee of approximately $400, and will crown its champion on January 12. Last year, Frederik Thiemer claimed victory in this opener, taking home MAD 500,000 (US$50,000) after outlasting a field of 688 participants.
The centerpiece of the series, the MAD 15,000 (US$1,500) buy-in Main Event, begins on January 16. It includes three starting days, with the final Day 1 flight taking place late on January 17. The tournament progresses to Day 2 and culminates in a final showdown on January 19, starting at 1:00 p.m. local time.
Last year’s Main Event attracted 1,163 players, generating an impressive MAD 14,893,000 (US$1.5 million) prize pool. British player Max Deveson emerged victorious, earning MAD 2,150,000 (US$218,543) and a WSOPC ring.
Side events and high-stakes competitions will complement the ring-awarding events, offering options for players of all skill levels. The 2024 edition saw standout performances, with Frederik Thiemer claiming two rings and Switzerland’s Dinesh Alt winning the High Roller event for $122,773.
