Another record WSOP now has its final field as players prepare for the ultimate poker competition
The stage is set for an epic showdown! The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event, boasting a record-breaking 10,112 entries, reaches its climax on July 16 at Horseshoe Las Vegas. Nine determined players will vie for poker immortality and the coveted $10 million first-place prize as the Final Table action gets underway.
Leading the charge is Arizona’s Jordan Griff, who amassed a staggering 143.7 million chips. Griff, a relative unknown with previous live earnings under $50,000, will be aiming for a life-altering payday. Following Griff are seasoned veterans Brian Kim (94.6 million chips) and Niklas Astedt (94.2 million). Kim, a WSOP bracelet winner with over $7.3 million in live earnings, seeks another – victory. Astedt, a Swedish online poker phenomenon with over $50 million in online cashes, targets his largest live tournament score.
New Mexico’s Joe Serock (83.6 million) sits in fourth place. The state’s all-time money leader already boasts a WSOP bracelet from the 2023 online PLO event. Canadian contender Jason Sagle (67.3 million) seeks redemption after a runner-up finish at the 2006 North American Poker Championship.
Bulgarian player Boris Angelov (52.9 million) made significant strides on Day 8, exceeding his previous best live earnings with this deep run. Jonathan Tamayo (26.7 million), a 2009 WSOP Main Event participant, is joined by Malo Latinois (25.5 million), who dramatically secured his spot on Day 8. Parisian Latinois boasts a significant increase in career earnings thanks to this deep run. Rounding out the final table is Andres Gonzalez (18.3 million), who capitalized on Day 8 to qualify.
All eyes will be on the final table on July 16 as the remaining contenders battle for poker supremacy. The drama concludes on July 17 when the 2024 WSOP champion is crowned.
