The series is making its rounds across the US with a number of tournaments
August has just started and the World Series of Poker Circuit (WSOPC) schedule for this month kicks off on one end of the country and wraps up on the other. Poker lovers are preparing from coast to coast in the US, thinking about those hands that can take them to victory and back home with a big payday.
The 2024-2025 WSOPC season kicked off in Durant, Oklahoma, at the Choctaw Casino & Resort earlier this month, right after the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet series in Las Vegas concluded. Justin Lapka emerged victorious in the $1,700 buy-in Main Event, taking home $252,282 after outlasting a field of 1,017 players.
With Choctaw now behind in the calendar, the spotlight shifts to the next destination: Cherokee, North Carolina. Specifically, the action moves to Harrah’s Cherokee, renowned as one of the premier poker locations in the Old North State and the US.
The series began yesterday on the East Coast and concludes on August 12. The opening event is the $600 No-Limit Hold’em Opener, the first of 20 gold rings to be awarded. The series wraps up with the $400 Double Stack Closer, also a No-Limit Hold’em tournament.
In between these dates, Harrah’s Cherokee will host several notable events, including a $300 Ladies Event on August 9 and the $1,700 buy-in Main Event, a fixture at most WSOPC stops. Three months ago, Maurice Hawkins won his 16th Circuit ring at this casino by claiming the Main Event title and a prize of $259,160.
Following the conclusion of the Harrah’s Cherokee series, the WSOP Circuit will quickly head west. The next stop is Graton Casino in Rohnert Park, California, a favorite among Circuit players.
The Graton series begins on August 15 with a $400 Big 30K Stack Kickoff, featuring a $50,000 guaranteed prize pool. This event will be the first of 18 gold rings awarded during the series. As usual, the highlight will be the Main Event, a $1,700 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em tournament with a $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.
On the final day, August 26, the series will conclude with two final ring events: the $250 Seniors Event and the $400 Bay Area Closer. Many fans of this game look forward to seeing which of the potential candidates ends up taking the final race.
